Hindu witness
to incident brutally murdered
Is history repeating itself in Bengal? It was the dark
days of 1940s (days prior to the partition of then undivided Bengal in 1947)
when Hindu temples became the foremost targets of Islamists and the whipping endorsement
of then Muslim League bolstered the perennial anti-Hindu odium only.
The present state of affairs is just the same; Hindu
temples across the Indian state of Bengal are turning out to be primary targets
of Islamic vandalism and the situation is such that not a day passes when the
desecration of a Hindu temple goes unheard.
The highly revered Kali Temple located at Fuliapara
Krittibas (Ramayana was written in Bengali here by the mediaeval poet Krittibas
Ojha), P.S. Shantipur, District: Nadia has turned into the latest target. On April
25, 2012 (in the early morning) the Temple was attacked by a packed of assailants.
Not the temple was looted and desecrated only but Sri Bijoy Ghosh, who did recognize
the assailants, was brutally murdered also. The whole area is tensed as a
result and is apprehending more such vicious attacks in the coming days.
It is worthwhile to mention, Hindu temples in and
around Shantipur (aided by weird disinclination of administration to adopt
tough measures against culprits) have become completely vulnerable to mounting
divisive activities of Islamists.
